Liz Amos

Liz is an ‘off-comer’ of 27 years standing, and although born and raised in the south she has discovered from her family history research that she is Lancashire on her mother’s side and Yorkshire on her father’s.  She has lived in Shap for 27 years and is a founder member of Shap Local History Society.  Her interest in local history began where she lived before moving to Shap, with a dissertation for her degree in Environmental Studies (Wye College, University of London,  as a mature student) on the development of Wye village, and continued with another dissertation for Lancaster University Diploma in Local History – this time on Shap. When not engaged with matters historical she can either be found in her garden, walking the fells or sailing on Ullswater.
